This portrait series came from an unexpected encounter during one of my travels. It was a family living in a small courtyard, their days quiet, simple, and peaceful. Yet there was an elderly man in the yard who seemed slightly out of step with this warm, familiar rhythm. He often sat alone in a corner, gazing into a certain direction as if listening to a wind only he could hear, or guarding a past that no one else knew.

There was something in his calm yet distant presence that drew me in. I began to feel a quiet curiosity about him—his memories, his stories. The fragment of time he seemed to be silently watching. With the family’s permission, I approached him and captured a series of photographs, recording his most genuine and contemplative moments. These images became one of the most unforgettable encounters of my journey.
